Earth Day entstand als spontane Studentenbewegung in den USA, um der Politiik und Öffentlichkeit zu demonstrieren, dass es in Nordamerika eine Umweltbewegung gab und die Natur jetzt über eine starke Lobby verfügen wird. Der 22. April ist seitdem der weltweit begangene Earth Day. Das diesjährige Earth Day Thema ist "Planet vs. Plastics".
Wie können wir den multiplen planetaren Krisen – die Klimakrise, der Verlust der biologischen Vielfalt und der Umweltzerstörung –gemeinsam begegnen? Wir freuen uns auf den Austausch!

Als Inspiration zeigen wir (um 19 Uhr) den Doku-Film "Bigger Than Us" über junge Menschen um den Globus, die etwas bewirken wollen.
Über den Film: Die 18-jährige Melati kämpft seit sechs Jahren gegen die Plastikverschmutzung ihrer Heimat Indonesien. Sie hatte Erfolg, doch sie ist noch lange nicht fertig. Um neue Kraft zu schöpfen, bereist Melati die Welt: Sie will Gleichgesinnte treffen, von ihnen lernen, sich vernetzen. Sie sucht nach der Energie und dem Momentum des gemeinsamen Kampfes – und wird fündig. Sechs junge Menschen vom Libanon über Afrika bis Rio de Janeiro zeigen Melati ihre ganz eigene Welt der Courage und des Engagements.

The Tannenbusch House Community and GreenDrinks Bonn invite you to an Earth Day Get-Together on Sunday, 21 May, with a Potluck BBQ dinner & documentary film screening.
The 2024 Earth Day theme is "Planet vs. Plastics". How can we face the multiple planetary crises – the climate crisis, the loss of biodiversity and environmental pollution – and act together?
For inspiration, we are showing (at 7 pm) the documentary film "Bigger Than Us" about young people around the world who want to make a difference.
About the film: 18-year-old Melati has been fighting plastic pollution in her home country of Indonesia for six years. She has been successful, but she is far from finished. Melati is travelling the world to meet like-minded people, learn from them and network. She is looking to boost her energy and gain momentum for the common struggles - and she finds it. Six young people from Lebanon and Africa to Rio de Janeiro show her their very own world of courage and commitment. https://biggerthanus.film
GreenDrinks Bonn is a relaxed monthly social where local professionals and individuals interested in the environment and sustainability share insights, inspire and delight each other. We usually meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month (7-9 pm) at different venues to support local businesses and Bonn's growing sustainability ecosystem.
